light 9. faces in clouds

Oh, far-flung spirit, how you writhe and sparkle
As you orbit suns of blue and gold and callow crimson
A silent ellipse 'round my whole universe in infinite calculation
Cutting short my limited prescience, it withers and whines
And the futures and numerous causalities flee far away from me

Oh, you far-flung spirit, whispering radio waves
In jigsaw shapes awaiting completion where at last
They meet with me and dance as one
Laying waste to our ruinous fate and
This world gives way to a lasting chaos

So don't lose it to scattered reams
Don't lose it to midnight and lonely sheets
Don't lose it to silence and trampled dreams
Don't lose it to coldness and hollow scenes
Don't lose it, please

There's a better place waiting here

They'll burn it out with matches and smoke
And your window was open all night long
So run with it, run through the flames
Succumb to shade under plastic palms
Masking cell phone towers in Autumn

Where I still dream you are and pointing out
Faces in clouds and the raindrops on your face to me
So don't lose it to everything you fear
There's a better life waiting here with me.
