dark 12. children throwing bricks

Take off, soaring through black oceans
Of starbursts and scintillating clouds
Scraping up cosmic debris
From the edge of her world

You are light and shadow and woven tight
And form is extraneous and I'll not confess
To beliefs I had made up for me

Spirit is what you are, and spirit is what I am
And I am trying so hard to understand

You are earth and air and spun so right
And form is a lie they wrote themselves
Over a thousand years and a million fights

Because form is distraction
And life doesn't care what your family thought

So take off and descend in spirals
Of orange to white, lost in streamers of fog
Through cyclopean waves to a city beneath your mind
With walls of sugar glass and a thousand children
Throwing bricks, dripping cadmium red.
